About Ash
I was born in Cardiff, Wales, and moved to the Bahamas when I was 12 years old. I attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, where for the 2006-2007 academic year I worked as the photography editor for The Argosy, the Mount Allison campus newspaper. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Philosophy I spent some time visiting friends and family in England and Canada, before moving home to the Bahamas in January 2008. I am engaged to a wonderful girl, Iona MacDonald, and we hope to marry next year.
I love comments. Positive feedback is always gratifying, but constructive criticism is particularly appreciated. Preference is in essence personal and varying, and in art it can be even more illusive. What I may find appealing may be to you stark, busy, overly sharp, or dull and lacking. I want to know. My Photography
I digitially edit my photos. Some are edited extensively, some are edited very little. It all depends on how I feel the photo should look. That being said, not all of my photos are meant to necessarily capture reality. Sometimes I decide the mood of a photo or how I want the scene to look in my mind to be more important than realism. I believe that photography is an art form and should be open to interpretation, aside from in the news media where unaltered, unbiased images are essential in portraying the truth of a situation.
